The Revo-Rack manufactured by us in the UK is made from 25mm Aluminium & Magnesium tube and thus the frame only weighs 1.7kg The design of this rack allows it to fit in under 90 seconds, no bolts, no brackets, no straps and no paint damage. It will fit the MX5 RF perfectly it was developed for the MK4\/ND MX5 when we saw how small the panel gaps were on the 2015\u00a0 MX5 we realised the odds of fitting a clamp baed rack to the fragile boot lid edges without paint damage were very small. The rack fits the boot lid of the RF perfectly and the roof can be operated with the rack in place.<\/p>\n

Revo-Rack uses vacuum cup technology to secure to your MX5 .The rack sits on three 115mm vacuum cups these are rated as being able to hold an 18kg load each. These can in theory hold a 54kg load. Vacuum cups are not the same as suction cups. Suction creates vacuum they are much much stronger and were developed in the late 1960's to hold film camera's to cars.<\/p>\n

Revo-Rack has been independently tested and certified by TUV Italy part of the global TUV testing and certification business. There is no ISO standard for convertible luggage racks so we had the Revo-Rack certified to ISO 11154 PAS 2006 : Road vehicles roof carriers. Revo-Rack passed and the lab and real world tests, in short it won't come off it fitted correctly.<\/p>\n

Vacuum cups employ the force of atmospheric pressure to grip a surface: When a vacuum exists between the cup and the surface on which it is attached, the weight of Earth's atmosphere holds the cup in place with incredible force.<\/p>\n

Unlike suction cups that produce a vacuum as they pull away from the surface, Revo-Racks vacuum cups use a hand-actuated pump to efficiently remove air from between the rubber pad and the attaching boot\/trunk lid thus creating a much more reliable hold. Suction creates vacuum.Because the full face of the pad is brought into contact with the boot\/trunk lid, distortion is reduced, allowing the cup to be used with very little risk of damage.<\/p>\n
